Frequently asked questions

What is Vodafone Secure Net?
Vodafone Secure Net helps protect you and your family’s mobile devices when connected to our mobile network. We use a network security layer against threats from viruses or harmful files and websites, and block harmful content by redirecting you to a safe site. We also offer content filtering for children's devices and the ability to control access to website categories and additional whitelisting and blacklisting of specific sites.

It’s only available for Vodafone customers who connect devices to the Vodafone mobile network. It doesn’t work when connected to WiFi, including with Vodafone Home Broadband.
How much does Secure Net cost?
A free three-month trial is automatically added to Pay monthly plans, after which it costs £1 a month – less than 4p a day – for each device it’s applied to.
Does Vodafone Secure Net protect me from everything?
Secure Net protects your phone from viruses, malware and other harmful content when you connect to the internet on our mobile network.

Please note: Secure Net won’t work when your devices are connected to other networks or WiFi, including Vodafone Home Broadband.

Secure Net also can’t protect your mobile device, even while connected to our network, if you:
·       Change your Access Point Name (APN) settings
·       Use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) service
·       Use a proxy service
·       Access a site using a https secure connection
·       Use smartphone data compression services
·       Use a browser that can compress or encrypt traffic (except Nokia Xpress, Microsoft BOS, Google Chrome and the Vodafone version of Opera mini)
·       Use selected email protocols (except HTTP, POP3 and SMTP)

Secure Net isn’t a traditional anti-virus and can’t be used to remove viruses, malware or other content already on your device.
How do I deactivate Secure Net?
If you want to cancel Secure Net, either at the end of your three-month trial or at any point after that, it’s easy to deactivate it in the My Vodafone app by doing the following steps:

1.       Go to Manage Bars & Extras and choose Buy and Manage Bars
2.       Next choose Mobile data options
3.       Expand Vodafone Secure Net and toggle the switch to off

If you don’t have the app, you can deactivate it by logging in to My Vodafone online and doing the following steps:

1.       Go to Services and Extras
2.       Choose Mobile data options
3.       Choose Vodafone Secure Net and toggle the switch to off

Additionally, you can turn off the service using the Vodafone Secure Net app, available for iOS and Android devices.
